Learning Angular 2 this Fall

Modern Web development techniques keep moving forward: Angular 2, RxJS, TypeScript, ES2016/2017. It can be daunting to keep up with the constant progression of web technology, but it is also very much worth it as what we can build also improves. It is a great time to learn how to build apps with Angular 2 using Dependency Injection, providers, data binding, RxJS, Components, Modules, Services, and more! If you are looking to learn the modern Web techniques with Angular 2, ES2016/ES2017, TypeScript and more you can catch one of the many events coming this Fall. Here are several events I'll be at, and some discount codes (where applicable). I hope to see you at one of these! Ultimate...

17 Minute Angular 2 App

Last week I had the privilege of coding an Angular 2 app in front of the live audience at the 3rd annual ngConf event. I had a lot of fun and, perhaps luckily, I didn't make any major mistakes :) More importantly, I believe this session shines a light on the seven most fundamental aspects that we need to build an Angular 2 app. Modules Components Templates Data Binding Structural Directives Services Dependency Injection Watch the video of my session, An Angular 2 Force Awakens, here. If you enjoyed this, please join me and Dan Wahlin at our full day Angular 2 workshop in Barcelona in July. We all love tools that help use code more efficiently, so stick around for...

Immerse Yourself in Angular, MEAN, ASP.NET, and Gulp

Let's go to ludicrous speed! The Web is evolving at such an amazing pace that it's difficult to keep up with everything that is around us. When you have precious little time, how do you know what to focus on? One great way is to come to AngleBrackets! Next month (April 13-16) I will be joined by my friends Dan Wahlin and Ward Bell to present some awesome sessions at AngleBrackets in Orlando. Dan and I will be presenting a full day workshop on Angular, then I'll also be presenting or co-presenting these sessions: AngularJS in 60 Minutes-ish Big Gulp! Task Automation with Gulp, Node and JavaScript AngularJS Patterns MEAN: The MongoDb, Express, Angular...

Angular Workshop and an Xbox One?

If you want to learn how to build a SPA with Angular with me (and get an Xbox One), register for my SPA workshop at AngleBrackets and DEVIntersection and use code PAPA to get $50 off the conference registration! I hear workshop attendees can get an Xbox One too just for registering for a workshop! We’ll cover syntax, but we’ll focus on how to ask the right questions and what choices are important to make as we demonstrate the techniques. Ward Bell (1 brilliant mind behind Breeze) will be guest starring and frankly there isn’t a data or business problem on Earth that he can’t solve (or at least I haven’...

Free Video: SPA Primer with Durandal, Knockout and Breeze

I had the fortune to join a cast of heavy hitters at the free DotNetConf live event. My session was a 50 minute primer on SPA that tells a story about what a SPA can do. Javier Lozano and Scott Hanselman hosted the free event through a Google Hangout, which turned out pretty cool. They have now made the videos freely available. You can see my video below. If you are looking to evaluate if SPA is right for you, I think you’ll enjoy this video. If you want more detail on “how” to build a SPA, you can check out my full length courses at Pluralsight. Learn more about Durandal and these topics from my...
