2008 Giants Roster Is Coming Soon

I had projected the NY Giants roster a 1 week and a half ago before Osi Umenyiora season ending injury. Obviously his spot is now up for grabs by someone else. Likely another DE. There have been some other developments along the way which caused me to change my mind on who might make the team. I think the hardest battles are at CB, RB and WR. I fully expect the Giants to search the waiver wire for a DE to gain some depth. So even though the DE’s on my list are my picks to make the team, I would be shocked if the Giants did not try to make a move at some point to stengthen...


Giants are Talking to Strahan about Replacing Umenyiora

In case you missed it, the NY Giants lost Osi Umenyiora for the rest of the season due to a tear in his knee. Osi is a phenomenal player who requires double teaming by the opposing team’s OL. This is a huge advantage for any team to have guy on the DL that can occupy 2 people. WIth Osi and Strahan last year bookending the DL, the Giants did something special. You may have heard about it … they won the Super Bowl against an undefeated (at the time) Patriots team. So is it a big deal that they lost Strahan to retirement and Osi to an injury? They do have Justin Tuck, who is a force himself....


NY Giants – Final 2008 Roster Projection

We’re about 2 weeks away from the football season’s opening kickoff. I’m a huge Giants fan so obviously I was feeling great year last year, and this year looks promising too. The roster can only hold 53 active players so here is my best guess at what the opening day roster will look like if nothing else changes. Injuries always play a factor, so watch out. OFFENSE (26) Quarterbacks (3) – Manning, Carr, Woodson - Woodson has looked bad, but I think the Giants are going to be happy enough with Carr as a backup that they will groom Woodson.
